Condo Developer Launches “Cornhole for a Condo” Contest

Sketch of a Queens condo development building under construction on King George Boulevard in Newton. |
A new housing development in Surrey is offering a unique prize — the chance to win a condo for just $1. The contest is called “Cornhole for a Condo” and is part of the new Queens development in Newton. |
The contest is open to the first 200 buyers who place a deposit and get pre-approved to purchase a condo at the project. The homes are being built by Dawson + Sawyer near King George Boulevard and 78 Avenue. |
Players will compete in a cornhole tournament during a special event. Each person gets one throw. If they miss, they are out. The throw line moves farther back each round until only one person is left. The winner gets their deposit refunded and can buy the condo for $1. |
The Queens project will include nearly 3,500 homes made up of condos and townhomes. It is being built on land that once held the Bear Creek Glen manufactured home park. |

Canadian Comedy Band The Arrogant Worms Coming to Surrey

Music trio Arrogant Worms are in Surrey for a concert Wednesday, March 18, 2026. |
The comedy music group The Arrogant Worms will perform in Surrey this month. The show will take place at the Surrey Arts Centre on March 18. |
The band has been performing funny songs about Canada for more than 35 years. Some of their best-known songs include “Canada’s Really Big” and “The Last Saskatchewan Pirate.” Their newest album, Canadian Famous, features even more songs about Canadian life. |
The group started while the members were students at Queen’s University in Ontario. Over time, the band became a trio and focused mostly on music instead of comedy sketches. Today, they have released 14 albums and performed across Canada. |
Fans of all ages now attend their shows, including people who grew up listening to their music and bring their kids along. The band says touring is a great way to meet fans and try new songs. |

City Updates
Surrey Leaders Plan New Ideas to Grow Local Economy

Surrey council recently heard an update from the city’s Investment, Innovation and Business Committee. The group helps connect City Hall with businesses, universities, and industry leaders. |
The committee includes leaders from local business groups and schools like Simon Fraser University and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Their goal is to help grow Surrey’s economy by supporting new ideas, attracting businesses, and helping companies expand. |
In 2025, the committee hosted meetings and events to help businesses collaborate and share ideas. One major event was the mayor’s agriculture forum, where the city and SFU announced plans to create a new agritech research hub. |
Looking ahead to 2026, the committee plans to focus on growing Surrey’s innovation sector, supporting businesses in the city’s six town centres, and strengthening partnerships with universities. |

I’m Considering Launching Something New…

For almost 20 years, I’ve worked inside the automotive industry, specifically helping car dealerships market and advertise their vehicles. During that time, I’ve had a front-row seat to how the car buying process really works. |
And I’ve also seen how overwhelming it can feel for buyers. |
From financing structures to trade-in strategy to optional add-ons, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes that most people simply aren’t aware of. |
So I’m considering launching something new. |
A Car Buying Concierge — a flat-rate advisory service designed to help everyday buyers navigate the vehicle purchasing process with clarity and confidence. The goal would be simple: help you choose the right vehicle, structure your deal properly, and avoid unnecessary stress along the way. |
Before I move forward, I’d love to gauge interest. |
If this is a service you think you (or someone you know) might find helpful, let me know by replying to this email or clicking the button below. If there’s enough interest, I’ll share more details — including how it would work — in a future edition. |

Surrey Baseball Groups Team Up to Support Teen Players

Two baseball groups in Surrey are working together to help more teens keep playing the sport. Whalley Little League and Surrey Canadian Baseball Association have launched a joint program called the Surrey Bears. |
The new program will offer teams for high school-aged players in four divisions, including 15U and 18U levels. The goal is to give players a clear path to keep playing baseball as they get older. |
Leaders from both groups say the partnership will help share coaches, experience, and baseball fields. It will also make it easier for players and families to find programs that match their skill level and schedule. |
The program will use local fields like Whalley Athletic Park, Lionel Courchene Park, and Holly Park. Organizers hope the new partnership will keep more Surrey teens involved in baseball. |
