Elements Casino Surrey Being Sold to Semiahmoo First Nation

Elements Casino Surrey is being sold. The casino, located at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds in Surrey, will be purchased by the Semiahmoo Development Corporation.
The casino is currently owned by Great Canadian Entertainment. The company says it has reached an agreement to sell the property as part of a larger plan to sell several of its casinos in British Columbia.
Leaders from the Semiahmoo First Nation say the purchase will help create jobs and new economic opportunities for their community. The deal still needs final approvals from regulators and the City of Surrey before it is complete.
The casino is a major entertainment venue and employer in Cloverdale. New ownership could bring future changes or investments to the site.

Surrey council has approved the next step for a large housing project in the downtown City Centre area. The proposal would build several new towers with thousands of homes.
The development, planned by Onni Group, includes seven high-rise towers and five mid-rise buildings. In total, the project would create about 2,705 homes, including more than 300 rental units, plus some commercial space for shops or services.
The site is located near 132 Street and 105 Avenue. It is currently home to several older apartment buildings. If the project receives final approval, construction will happen in phases over the next 30 to 35 years.
Council also approved another downtown project nearby — a proposed 34-storey tower with rental housing and ground-floor shops along Whalley Boulevard.
🔑 Key Details:
• A proposal for 12 residential towers with 2,705 homes received third-reading approval
• The project includes 321 rental units and commercial space
• Another 34-storey mixed-use tower was also approved nearby

City Updates
Fleetwood Getting a Larger, Modern Fire Hall to Replace Aging Station

A new fire hall is planned for Fleetwood as Surrey continues to grow. Land has already been cleared for the project near 152 Street and 93 Avenue.
The new fire station will replace the current Surrey Fire Services Fire Hall #6, which opened in 1961. The old building is now too small for the area and will eventually be removed to make space for the new SkyTrain extension to Langley.
The new fire hall will be much larger — about four times the size of the current station. It will include space for more trucks, firefighter dorms, training rooms, offices, and a fitness area. Officials say the larger building will help crews respond faster as the Fleetwood area grows.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with completion planned for 2028. City leaders say the new station will better serve residents as population and development increase.
🔑 Key Details:
• A new $30 million fire hall is planned near 152 Street and 93 Avenue
• The station will replace Fire Hall #6, which opened in 1961
• Construction is expected to start in 2027 and finish in 2028
